REVIEW

All right, THIS was a surprise. The Saskatchewan Canada-based band has managed to put out one of the most catchy Hard Rock albums I've heard in a long time. They've seemed to have thrown out all the rules and gone ahead with a sound that fits them. At first, lead vocalist Lorna Dowell's style turned me off. She has a Chrissie Hynde of "The Pretenders" delivery mixed with early Grace Slick. She's laid back, at times a bit like Dylan. Then you throw in some killer guitar licks from Guitarist Biman Bharadwaj and you've got an intriguing mix of Hard Rock. Some of Bharadwaj's licks are reminiscent of AC/DC, and the songs have about the same type of hypnotic rhythm. One might say that Dowell's voice pulls the band into the Alternative genre, but with songs like "Can't Keep me Down", they're simply a kick-ass Rock band! The sound reminds me of the stuff done in the late 70's, early 80's. The Pretenders, J. Geils, The Headpins, Arpil Wine, etc. I for one welcome this sound with open arms. The songs are short and to the point with some good variety. You have some Bluesy Rock with "Roach Clip Blues", some slower tempo with "Dreams", and some Classic Hard Rock with "Open Your Eyes". They show a bit of their sense of humor with "Payin' The Bills", which is a great Blue-Collar anthem.

For those of you tired of all the same sound on the radio, find this album and crank it up, you'll have a hard time wiping the smile off your face!
